This is the entry level or beginners level for people who have no previous experience and who would like to begin kayaking.
A kayak is closed craft, as seen in the pic. We will be using single person kayaks which are made from a plastic material making them tough while lightweight.
The course will be held on class 1 water, that is to say that the water will be flat, there will be no rapids or significant obstacles but there will be moderate flow. This is always dependent on water levels on the day of the course.
Usually on the flat section of water above the bridge in Slane or somewhere similar.
Yes, the courses are delivered by experienced and qualified kayak instructors.
You should have a pair of old lightweight trainers or a pair of canoe booties would be even better. Also, your normal swimming gear with a towel and a tee shirt (which will get wet). If you have your own wet suit that would be great but don't worry wet suits and all other equipment will be provided.
Yes, you should bring a lunch and a drink and perhaps a snack bar which you can take in the kayak with you. Bars such as Mars or Snickers which are sealed are most suitable.
